Birds of Prey in Garrison Commons 2017 SHR

Birds of Prey Show

 Held at Garrison Commons, the Pocket Park in the 900 Block of Garrison Ave. in downtown Fort Smith, Ark.


The Birds of Prey Show is fun and educational for the whole family and its FREE. In addition to the show, with your tax deductible donation to Arkansas Native Plant and Wildlife Center, you can have your photo taken with one of these magnificent birds. From owls to hawks to falcons, see and learn about these majestic creatures up close!

Tommy Young is the director of the wildlife center and holds degrees in Ornithology and Wildlife Medicine from Cornell University. He has helped rehabilitate and release back into the wild thousands of animals including 36 bears, 10,000 hawks, 9,000 owls, 22,000 mammals, 44 American Bald Eagles, 36 Golden Eagles. The wildlife center is located near Mena, AR, which makes for a good day-trip motorcycle ride from Fort Smith, AR.

The Steel Horse Rally has events for the whole family.

In addition to The Birds of Prey Show, you will find antique bikes on display plus everyone is invited to watch Thunder Through the Valley Motorcycle Parade and stroll through the Vendor Village.

There will be special activities for kids, including face-painting and the opportunity to “Meet our Heroes” where children can talk to local veterans, law enforcement, and first responders.

 During your visit be sure and stop by the Park at West End, located at the North end of Garrison Ave at the base of the Garrison Ave bridge. The Park at West End is a charming and retro venue with vintage rides and dining options.
